Eighty-one year old Robert (Bob) Merle Harrod went missing from his home on Carnation Drive, Placentia, California on Monday, July 27th, 2009.
He had been eagerly awaiting the return of his new wife on Wednesday, who had returned to her home in Missouri to finish packing and say her goodbyes to family there. They had been sweethearts 59 years before and had only recently found each other again and married, in a fairytale ending to their young romance.
Bob had arranged for his daughter's husband to carry out some last minute repairs and his cleaner to pay a special visit to his house that day, in preparation for his wife's return. At some point, he vanished from his home and has never been seen or heard from again.
He could not walk far but did not take his car. He was legally blind. He had not been diagnosed with dementia or any medical condition that would have caused him to wander off, confused. He was a wealthy man but has not used his bank account or credit cards since that day. For the second time in her life, his wife has lost the man she loves and is waiting for him to return. Bob left behind a large estate but did not have time to provide for his wife in his existing will as he intended. She will inherit nothing.
Police are investigating his disappearance as a possible homicide. Bob Harrod is still missing and his case is not closed. Anyone who was in the vicinity of Carnation Drive, Placentia on July 27th 2009, or anyone who thinks they may have any information at all, is urged to contact:
